I came to Chennai in the year 1993 and moved into my apartment at one end of the famous Elliots Beach. Those days Elliots beach was a nice place and there were no hawkers in the beach. Going for a walk at night in the baech used to be a very pleasant experience.
These days I avoid going to the beach, especially in the evenings even on weekdays since it is very crowded. On Sundays and holidays, literally there is chaos in the beach since it is overcrowded with cars which have no place to park. Visitors to Elliots beach have now started parking their vechicles in all the side roads thereby creating a problem to the residents living there.
On Monday morning, you will find the beach littered with leftovers of food, platic plates, bottles, ice cream cups etc. I wonder when we as a nation are going to become more aware of these aspects of life?
